Saying "I have your letter of 14th, all wines bey? and port and sherry are plague & humbug--" If Mr. Harrison will send him the list, he will ask "Mr. Koch of Frankfort's agent" to tell him which wine would least trouble Dr. Colquhoun; he will then try to discover someone who would "take apart" [presumably of a an order Dr. Colquhoun would place]. He thinks a club "the most likely party to come to terms," but will ask "Slaptes of the Albion who puts the grand wines before Kings & Emperors ... The Wine Merchants are shy of Hock"; however he will "try Mssrs. R. Payne & Sons ..., who are famous for a high style of wine--" Hock of course "varies in price from a Guinea to Eighteenpence on the Rhine and it is Caviare to the general." He has occasionally bought bottles at 10/6, to find only "a few glasses consumed at Table--the rest of necessity in the kitchen."
